With World of Warcraft’s lead system designer Greg Street announcing his departure from Blizzard today, we can’t help but feel a little nostalgic here at Elite Monster.
Sure, the man known on the WoW forums and his personal Twitter account as “Ghostcrawler” was sometimes a lightning rod for criticism. But that’s only because Greg went out of his way for more than five years to give players a behind the scenes look at how the sausage is made in Irvine.
With a player base in the millions, it was impossible to keep everyone happy with the constant changes Blizzard rolled out with every new patch.
But you can’t say he didn’t try. When he had to drop a bomb on the player base, he always did it with tact and facts to back up the decision.
You may love him, you may hate him, but you can’t deny that Ghostcrawler went above and beyond the call of duty to make players feel like their opinions on the game mattered, even if he didn’t agree with them.
And for that, we say thank you, Greg. There’s no word yet on where the nerfbat-wielding crab will end up next, but while we wait to hear, we thought it’d be fun to take a trip down memory lane with some of our favorite Ghostcrawler photos. Feel free to fire up some Sarah McLachlan on Spotify for this one. (I will remember youuuuuuuuuu…..)
